I began passing blood in my urine. That’ll scare the daylights outta ya.

Went in for a biopsy, stayed for the removal, never looked back. God is good!

Now every 6 months I get scoped. After the last check up Doc says every 12 for a scope every 6 for a pee test. Boy am I gonna miss getting scoped. The thing looks like a straw and feels like a sewer line.

PrisonViews: 771

Last night was my first night back in prison…

Ya gotta know I love opening a conversation with that! Before anyone gets nervous, I am a volunteer chaplain and I visit the lockdown unit at the local “Grey bar Hilton”. In fact my wife and I, along with the club we belong to go all over Indiana preaching the good news of Jesus in prisons.

So anyway, there I am last night, talking to a man through a 4X4 square of plexiglass and he says, “you have no idea what it is like to be here and have no way of getting out.” I started laughing. I mean really laughing. “Yes I do know what it like to be forced to endure something I have no control over.” “Yes I do what it is like to have decisions made for me that I have little input on, you see friend I am a cancer survivor and while our prisons may be of different construction they are still prisons and I am still doing time, so now that we have leveled the playing field, lets get real.”

For the first time in my years of prison ministry I was able to connect on that level and it was amazing. I have always had to qualify myself because I have never been a convict (not for lack of trying, I was an underacheiever…lol). But last night I did not need to qualify or explain anything, last night I walked in on equal footing and that gave me a boldness and a power I had been missing. Thank you Jesus.

Just wanted to drop by and share that insight.

Peace and blessings
Mac

Mac, my Mama always told me that everything happens for a reason.
I am so proud of you for what you are doing in the prisons. THANK YOU SO MUCH. My son was a Correctional Officer for 18 years for the NC Prison System. Most of his time was spent on death row at Central Prison in Raleigh, NC. Carl died at the age of 39 in 2003 from an instant massive heart attack. I am sure they have missed him because everytime he went to another department the prison staff was always wanting him back on death row.
GOD BLESS AND BE WITH YOU, MY FRIEND.
Hugs,
Joyce

All that I can say is Wow, what a night.

Will Mac explains everything. I knew you were a messenger from God. I am so proud of what you are doing for your self, we your family and those who may not have a family that no longer cares about them..

I want to thank you and your wonderful wife, for the love and support that you have given us.

Hug Sherri

Mac,

You are awesome. Bake cookies! I’m laughing. That’s a good idea!

Have you heard anything, since we are on the subject of cookies, about sugar feeding Cancer?

Sonia

Mac,
Excellent connection to these inmates. You are again impressing us will another side of Mac… and how extraordinary you are!

I MUST address the issue of sugar. It appears on this site on occasion and drives me crazy. It is a hoax! I was a biology major, and an R.N. and have discussed this with my oncologist and a biophysicist I know who does research at the cancer center. If you know anything about biology you know that all cells use glucose as energy. If they don’t get it from simple sugars they will convert fat and protein to sugar for energy. It really doesn’t matter where the sugar comes from. This misinformation was attributed to an article from Johns Hopkins. It was not from them and it prompted them to write a denial last March denying it came from them. The original research was in 1931 and the doc who discovered that cells feed on sugar received a Nobel Prize. Since cancer cells do love sugar and have a higher metabolic rate than most other cells there was a misunderstanding that sugar would make them grow faster. Go to Snopes.com and ask about this for clarification.

We all need to be careful not to believe everything we read on the internet, or hear from unverified sources. Don’t be afraid of sugar. But do be careful and make sure you eat complex carbs for better nutrition and insulin control. In order to starve your cancer cells from getting sugar you would have to starve your entire body from all sources of nutrition. Not a good idea.

Mac,
I agree with Joyce everything happens for a reason. You just proved it…..

Way to go
Cheryl

In response to your milk and no cookies. As soon as I am up for it, I’ll bake you some.

You always make me smile!

Sonia
